16 Jul Telecommunication Systems For Offshore Facilities – Reach Integrated Awarded Wireless Ethernet Radio (Wer) & Data Communication Systems For Bokor Phase-3 Redevelopment Project
The BARAM DELTA PSC (Production Sharing Contract) comprises the BOKOR, BAKAU, BARAM, BARONIA, BETTY, FAIRLEY BARAM, SIWA, TUKAU and WEST LUTONG oil and gas fields situated offshore to the state of Sarawak, Malaysia.
The BOKOR field in particular, is located at a water depth of 70m, and when fully developed will consist of 13 numbers of offshore oil & gas producing facilities.
Currently, the developer & operator of this BOKOR Field is PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB); it is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Malaysian national oil company PETRONAS.
In early 2018, PCSB has awarded Yokogawa Kontrol Malaysia Sdn Bhd (YOKOGAWA) with the contract to supply, install, test & commission Data Acquisition, Distributed Control and Safety Instrumented Systems for its BOKOR Phase 3 Development Project which includes provision of the new telecommunication system linking BOK-A, BODP-B and BODP-C Offshore Production Platforms.
The requirement for this new telecommunication system linking BOK-A, BODP-B and BODP-C Offshore Production Platforms is to provide wireless communication links at these various facilities for the purpose of transmitting vital Process & Safety Control Data, Production Data, LAN as well as CCTV Surveillance Data to & from these locations.
For the above intent and purposes, Reach Integrated Sdn Bhd (RISB) has submitted its proposal to YOKOGAWA; relying on SCALANCE’s Solution for the wireless connectivity, whereas adopting RUGGEDCOM’s Switches & Routers to provide the necessary data routing & interfacing platforms with YOKOGAWA’s Data Acquisition, Distributed Control and Safety Instrumented Systems.
Today, YOKOGAWA has accepted RISB’s proposal, marking another significant milestone in the deployment of RISB’s Wireless & Data Communication Solutions in the upstream sector of the Malaysian Oil & Gas Industry.
