Telecommunication Systems for Offshore Platforms – Reach Integrated Awarded Telecom Systems for Murphy Oil’s New Platform

Boustead Penang Shipyard Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Boustead Heavy Industries Corporation Berhad (BHIC), has secured a contract from Murphy Sarawak Oil Co. Ltd. for the fabrication of the offshore Belum topsides on Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning or EPCC basis for Block SK309 in phase two of the Sarawak Gas Development Project.

Under this arrangement, Boustead Penang Shipyard has today awarded Reach Integrated with the task of “Design, Supply, System & Local Testing, Pre-Commissioning and Offshore Commissioning” of various Telecommunication Systems for the BELUM Satellite A Platform (BE-SA) as well as the necessary telecommunication integration and tie-in works at the existing SERENDAH Central Production Platform (SN-PA).

Reach Integrated’s scope of works would include:-
a. providing an IP based Digital Microwave Radio (DMR) system as mean of primary data & voice link between BE-SA Satellite Platform and SN-PA Central Processing Platform;
b. providing a point to point Broadband Radio system as mean of secondary / back-up data & voice link between BE-SA Satellite Platform and SN-PA Central Processing Platform;
c. providing standalone marine communication services at BE-SA Satellite Platform via the deployment of VHF-FM Marine system’s base station and associated mobile handheld units;
d. providing crew UHF communication services at BE-SA Satellite Platform which is also integrateable to those at SN-PA Central Processing Platform via the deployment of UHF-FM system’s base station, repeater and associated mobile handheld units;
e. providing new LAN, voice and data network at BE-SA Satellite Platform, thereon link-up and integrate these network of voice & data systems to the SN-PA Central Processing Platform via primary DMR or secondary Broadband Radio wireless systems.
f. providing a new Crane Radio system at BE-SA Satellite Platform which is operateable on both UHF and VHF radio bands as well as equipped with loudhailers and associated announcement capabilities; and
g. providing and establishing a direct hotline telephone service between BE-SA Satellit Platform and SN-AA’s Central Control Room for emergency communication purpose.
