Telecommunication Systems for Offshore Platforms – Reach Integrated Chosen Again for Deployment of ExxonMobil’s New Platform

Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd or MMHE is a wholly owned subsidiary of Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering Holdings Berhad (MHB), a leading Malaysian heavy engineering and marine services provider, primarily focused on the oil and gas sector providing a wide range of engineering, construction, marine conversion and marine repair services.

ExxonMobil Exploration & Production Malaysia Inc. has awarded to MMHE a contract under the Damar Gas Development Project, where MMHE will engineer, procure, construct and commission the topsides and platform jacket for the project. Damar Gas Development Project is one of several investments that will enable ExxonMobil and its co-venturer Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd to develop natural gas assets to help ensure reliable and sustainable energy supplies for Malaysia.

Under this arrangement, MMHE has today awarded Reach Integrated with the task of “Design, Supply, System & Local Testing, Pre-Commissioning and Offshore Commissioning” of various Telecommunication Systems for the Damar-A Topsite Platform as well as the necessary telecommunication integration and tie-in works at the existing Lawit-A Offshore Gas Complex.

Reach Integrated’s scope of works involve :-
a. providing remote security & surveillance monitoring systems at the Damar-A Topsite Platform by deployment of its proven and robust Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) Systems;
b. providing remote monitoring, control, storage, display and playback functionalities for these CCTV System to be made available at the Lawit-A Gas Production Facility;
c. providing standalone marine & aeronautical communication services at Damar-A Topsite Platform via the deployment of VHF-FM Marine and VHF-AM Aeronautical Radio Systems;
d. providing both explosion proof rated & safe zone telephony systems as well as facsimile service at Damar-A Topsite Platform via a network of telephony switches / gateways, explosion proof telephones (Zone-1 rated), indoor telephones as well as facsimile facility;
e. providing new LAN and data network at Damar-A Topsite Platform, thereon link-up and integrate these network of data systems to the Lawit-A Gas Production Facility via subsea fiber optic connections.
f. providing backup satellite phone system at Damar-A Topsite Platform; and
g. upon completion of the systems at Damar-A, link-up and integrate all these remote systems to the Lawit-A Gas Production Facility via subsea fiber optic connections.
