24 Mar Offshore Remote Subsciber (RSS) System – PETRONAS CARIGALI Appoints Reach Integrated for Network Deployment At Various Offshore Facilities
PETRONAS CARIGALI Sdn Bhd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Bhd or PETRONAS. PETRONAS CARIGALI Sdn Bhd is Malaysia’s premier organization which engages in locating, exploring and producing oil and gas reservoirs. It also engages in oil and gas well drilling, as well as engineering, construction & commissioning natural gas pipeline and associated facilities.
Via its operating unit for Sabah & Sarawak Operations (SBO & SKO), PETRONAS CARIGALI Sdn Bhd has today awarded Reach Integrated with a contract to DESIGN, SUPPLY, INSTALL, TEST & COMMISSION NEW REMOTE SUBSRIBER SYSTEM or RSS at its various offshore facilities consisting of:-
a. 5 Central Facilities or Central Platforms; and
b. 32 Satellite Platforms, Vessels or Wellhead Facilities.
The base stations of the RSS network shall be deployed at 5 key locations / facilities namely:-
a. AUX Tower Station (Sarawak);
b. BARONIA Offshore Platform (Sarawak);
c. ERB WEST Offshore Platform (Sabah);
d. TEMBUNGO Offshore Platform (Sabah); and
e. SEMARANG Offshore Platform (Sabah).
Services from these base stations shall be extended to 37 locations via wireless connectivities. Upon completion of this effort, all 37 locations shall enjoy the following services made available by the versatile RSS network deployed by Reach Integrated:-
a. Data Services (extension to PETRONAS’ Petronet Network);
b. Telephony Services (direct extension to various existing PABX / IP-PBX nodes); and
c. Facsimile Services (direct extension to various existing PABX / IP-PBX nodes).
Connectivity via wireless applications to these remote locations would ensure minimum disruption to PETRONAS CARIGALI’s operations at these offshore locations as well as providing an immediate solution to the need for Data / Voice / Fax services.
